Goals of Young Adults Movement in the Archdiocese of Kingston

1.      To connect and reconnect young adults with Jesus Christ.

The fundamental relationship for the Christian is with Jesus Christ.  Spiritual formation and direction will be employed to help young adults deepen their relationship with Christ.  Important in this area is the need to help young adults discern the vocational call that Christ issues to each one.

2.      To connect and reconnect young adults with the Church.

Young adults often feel alienated from the church oftentimes because they do not experience Church as relevant to their issues and lives.  Efforts will be made to evangelise young adults; they will be invited to participate in the life of the Church and special efforts of pastoral care geared towards young adults will be put in place.

3.      To connect young adults with the mission of the Church in the world.

Christian faith should issue into loving action towards others in the world, but especially those who are most in need.  An emphasis will be placed on forming the consciences of young adults to the deep need that exists in our country and our world and increase the awareness of our call to respond to those who are disadvantaged.

4.      To connect young adults with a peer community.

Young adults require increasing support from among their peers who share similar experiences; they form a support network that cannot be gainsaid.   Young adults are the most effective ministers to each other and efforts must be made to form leaders from within the group to take on roles of leadership and support.
